The Brief

Dec's Pet launched their first website during the COVID lockdowns to allow their loyal customers to continue purchasing from the shop. After a successful 2020, revenue began to decline in 2021 as people returned to normal, and the website only reached their existing customer base.

They approached us seeking an agency that could help them tap into the vast opportunities within the pet market, with the long-term goal of competing with major brands.

Our Strategy

Over the last few years, we have worked on many different projects for Dec's Pets but here's what we felt like really moved the dial:
At the outset, Dec’s Pets were embarking on a new website project, so we partnered with their developer to restructure the site in line with the brand’s long-term vision, enhance page templates, and improve the overall user experience.

We then supported the launch and closely monitored Google’s response to the changes.

After the launch, we focused on optimising high-priority commercial pages by refining keyword targeting, enhancing hero content, expanding FAQs, and strengthening internal linking
We also collaborated with the Dec’s Pets team to strengthen their informational content strategy across the website and social media. As a result, the blog now drives over 650 visitors to the site each month.

Once the site and internal processes were optimised, we shifted our focus to link building. With a limited budget, we created and shared relevant, tips-based content with local media.

One such piece earned 22 backlinks and even secured a feature on the radio for Dec’s Pets.


The Results

Dec's Pets have seen significant growth with the site ranking on the first page for an additional +194 keywords across a wide variety of commercial keywords. This drove more than 4,000 additional people through to the site, driving organic revenue by 88%.

Not only did we help improve Dec's Pets website performance, but through our relationships with the local media, we got the brand featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, MSN (IE), Ireland Live as well as an interview on the radio.

We also helped improve user experience, with a number of Trustpilot reviews specifically mentioning how easy the site is to navigate, something we worked hard on improving as part of the new site project.
